Special Opportunities
Special Opportunities at the High School for Global Citizenship
- A maximum of twenty-five students in class. Teachers will assess
the individual needs of students, design individual instructional programs,
and monitor student progress closely.
- Ninth grade students will take part in a multi-day orientation retreat in August.
Students will get to know their teachers, school staff, classmates and the
HSGC before school begins.
- Students will participate in educational trips that make the learning in the classroom come
alive in the real world. For example, tenth grade students will have the opportunity to travel
to the locations and landmarks of the Civil Rights Movement in the southern United States.
- Tenth graders will plan a school-wide conference on a current issue. Students will carry out
the conference, which will include experts from our community and around the world.
- Eleventh graders will have the opportunity to travel. This travel experience will be
connected to an area of study selected by each student.
